Four masters of education from Humboldt University of Germany completed their 6-week education practice in Shanghai recently. It was the first time that ECNU had received foreign masters of education to participate in the transnational education practice program.

On the afternoon of April 4, the completion ceremony of the education practice was held in Caoyang NO.2 High School for the four German students. Zhu Ziqiang, Vice President and Dean of the Graduate School, and Tang Yuguang, Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School, attended the ceremony.

A completion ceremony is held for the four students.

Zhu delivered a speech on the ceremony. According to him, the education practice program has shortened the distance between ECNU and Humboldt University. He hoped that both sides would continue to send students for the transnational education practice program to strengthen the understanding of each other, and to constantly deepen the bilateral cooperation in the educational field.

The education practice is part of the framework agreement between ECNU and Humboldt University. Humboldt University has profound influences on Europe and even the whole world. It has cultivated 29 Nobel laureates in the fields likechemistry, medicine, physics, and literature etc. In June, 2012, it was selected as one of the 11 "elite universities" in Germany.

All the four students from Humboldt University were chosen for the program after strict selection and assessment, and each of them studied two majors at the same time. Johannes Meister majored in math and biology; Nora Sophie Siebert in biology and German; Clemens Lukas Kruse in English and Latin; and Tom Beutler in math and physics.

Caoyang NO.2 High School is an education base of ECNU. The German class of the school has provided advantageous conditions for the four German students to experience Chinese education. It is said that the school introduced DSD ( Deutsches Sprach-diplom) of German language in 2009. After 3 –year study in the German language, students in the German class can get DSD of different levels and most o f them can enter elite universities in Germany to further their education.

“It is a precious opportunity to experience Chinese education in such a close distance,” Nora Sophie Siebert said, “The best way to understand Chinese education is to observe and experience the differences between the education in China and Germany.”
